Welcome to the new website for Behy National School, Ballina, Co. Mayo. The main function of this website is to give the world a window into what is going on in Behy National School.

it was so hard running all that track!

the belleek tracks huge hill was hard and we probably ran 1 1/8 of a kilometre but it was fun!

2011 was a year filled with happiness and joy , but there has also been ups and downs …
First of all queen Elizabeth came to Ireland, first to Dublin for a four day trip. Everyone got ready, but the bad news was that only six people were allowed to see her.
Micheal D Higgins became the 9th president of Ireland. He got over one milllion votes. Mary Mc Aleese (former president) was president for 14 years .
U.S. navy seals killed Bin Laden. Bin Laden caused the twin tower crash (which happened in 2001 ) 10 years ago on the 11th of September 2001.
Japan had a huge earthquake in March. Over 2,000 people died or went missing. The place was a mess. Houses got knocked down and swept away.
There was an awful airplane crash in cork airport. Only six people survived and the rest did not =[
New zealand had a earthquake also. 181 people were killed or lost including 2 Irish men .
Prince William got married to Kate Middleton in England in Buckingham palace .
Joe frazier (the boxer) died in 2011 r.i.p. He was a very good boxer …….. =[

Today Im going to tell you what happened in 2011. Barrack Obama visited Ireland for the first time with his wife Michelle Obama. He visited his ancestral county Offaly. He also made a speech in college green,Dublin.
Queen Elizabeth made a historical first time visit to Ireland. She was greeted by Mary Mc Aleese. She also visited trinity college where she saw the book of Kells.
Prince William married Katherine Middelton in a televised ceremony shown all over the world.
Bin Laden was killed by an american black op team. He was killed in Pakistan in a shoot to kill operation.
Tyrone manager micky hearts daughter was killed on her honeymoon by two staff members in the hotel she was staying in.

Martin Luther King Jr.:I have a Dream
Martin Luther King’s ‘I have a Dream Speech’ was announced on the 28th of August 1963 at the Lincon Memorial , Washington D.C. It was a 17 minute long public speech!
It was written for freedom and equality, so nobody was thought better that one another. No one should be judged by the colour of their skin or how big or small they are.
We are all special in our own way and no one else can change that. Everyone should be treated with the same respect. I think he was right and more people should think before they act.
They should not treat each other like dirt and rubbish. People really opened their hearts to others. I like this piece because it reminds me that I am equal to everyone, not less. I won’t be considered different to anyone else.
