Sensory garden and woodland walk

29 06 2016

You may have noticed work going on beside the Astroturf pitch where we are building a sensory garden. It is a major project and will contain elements that appeal to all the senses. In addition to the gardens we have created a woodland walk up along the back of the football pitch. It will be completed by the final week of the school year and will be a wonderful resource for education and recreation. There will be an official opening at the end of September. A huge thank you to Fidelma Kenny, who sourced major sponsorship for this project from Ulster Bank. We also received sponsorship from The Coffee Vine and Noel Moran for this project for which we are most grateful. We are indebted to the Rural Social Scheme for their work on this project and, in particular, to Jean Beattie the superb designer and project manager. Thanks to the Parents Association for providing the lovely swing seat beside the water feature. Thanks to the parents who gave up their time to help with the planting and to Veronica McGuinness and her daughter Gemma for their artistic input. Thanks also to Veronica for organising new shrubs from Archers for the green area in front of the school.
